30 Day Self-Care Challenge for a Healthy Body, Mind, and Spirit

Be Kind To Yourself

I created this 30-day self-care challenge so you can focus on nurturing your body, mind, and soul.

Self-care enables you to recharge. Often, we get so caught up in our daily routine and busy schedule that we no longer find time to take care of ourselves.

We wake up feeling sluggish, go to work like robots, do household chores as if they’re hobbies, and go to bed extremely exhausted. We take good care of everyone and everything, but we rarely take care of ourselves– every single day.

Been there, done that, and this is why I want to share this 30 day self-care challenge with you.

I know exactly how it feels. We all have our goals and dreams, and we work for them so hard, almost 24/7. We try to conquer each day like Wonder Woman. But since we live in this world as real people, we sometimes end up feeling tired and burnt out.

Let me ask you this very simple question:

Are you happy?

If you can’t answer this in a matter of 2 seconds, then I think it’s high time you give yourself a break.

We all need to pause. Breathe. Relax. Unwind. Take some hours off. And simply exist. Taking a breather even just for 30-minutes to an hour every day can do wonders for your self-care.

Today, I like to share with you these fun and creative tips to jumpstart your self-care habits what I call the self care challenge.

Day 1 – Cap off your day with meditation

Give yourself an hour of connection with your thoughts and feelings during the challenge. Practice breathing exercises, get in tune with your senses and simply relax during the 30 day’s.

Day 2 – Unplug and disconnect for one hour or two.

Or three! It’s up to you. Turn off all your electronic devices and free yourself from constant pings from Facebook notifications, email messages, Skype calls, and so on. This day is my favorite day in the self-care challenge.

Day 3 – Take yourself on a date

Treat yourself to a nice movie, have a cup of your favorite frappe at Starbucks, go to your favorite boutique, or simply go out and take a stroll.

You don’t always need another person to be able to enjoy! So go out there and have fun.

Day 4 – Watch your favorite chick flick

When the kids are already asleep, or you’re just alone in the house, go make a bowl of popcorn, a cup of hot drink, and tune in to Netflix for your all-time favorite movie.

Day 5 – Listen to your favorite songs

You can do this even while washing the dishes, doing the laundry, or commuting to work. Soothe yourself with some music by listening to songs that you love. This will definitely put you in a better mood and take your mind off stuff, such as your monthly bills!

Day 6 – Go to the salon

Get a haircut, or ask for some nail art, or even have a foot spa. Whatever it is, make sure you go home feeling refreshed!

Day 7 – Catch up with long time buddies

Meeting and chatting with old friends over a cup of coffee has therapeutic effects. You laugh at mistakes, joke around as if you’re still in high school, think back on good times, and simply cherish your time together.

Day 8 – Try a new morning routine

If your body can handle it, wake up earlier than usual. Make yourself a cup of freshly brewed cappuccino, sit on the front porch, read the newspaper, and breathe in the morning air. You could also go out for a walk or jog around the neighborhood with your earphones on.

Day 9 – Go green

Cut down on sugar. Skip the donut. Go for fresh greens. Drink tea or detoxify with green juice. Make some fruit shake. Munch on an apple for your snack. Trust me, you’ll feel lighter and fresher!

Day 10 – Keep a diary

Writing a journal will help you get in touch with your emotions and thoughts. Journaling lets you bring out everything that’s on your mind and organize your thoughts. You can write about anything– your little secrets, frustrations in life, or how your neighbor annoys you sometimes.

Day 11 – Try aromatherapy and a hot bath

Indulge yourself in an hour of a hot bath. Light a candle, spread some petals you got from your backyard, and use some essential oils. Close your eyes and let the power of your senses relax the tension you feel from daily obligations.

Day 13 – Buy yourself a gift

It can be that black dress you have been eyeing on at the mall or that designer bag you saw at Amazon… give yourself something special that’ll make your day!

Day 14 – Be grateful for your family and friends

Cook your husband’s favorite pasta dish, bake cookies with your kids, post lovely photos of your and your friends on Instagram, and add a sweet caption. Just be thankful for their company!

Day 15 – Appreciate your spouse

Stop expecting too much from your husband. Look at the way he helps you around the house, especially when you’re sick. Remember yesterday when he covered you with a blanket when you fell asleep on the sofa? Take a moment and appreciate the little things he does for you to make your day a bit better.

Day 16 – Tell yourself, “You can’t control everything.”

Often, we get stressed out when things don’t go our way. Well, guess what? Life’s like that! Believe me, it doesn’t always go the way you planned. Take the good things with the bad. Accept that sometimes things go wrong– that’s normal. Stop trying to control every single situation around you. Loosen up and take it easy.

Day 17 – Post your blessings on the wall

Make this a daily routine. Every morning when you wake up, think of one beautiful thing around you. Jot each blessing on a piece of paper and post it on your bedroom wall or your refrigerator every day. This is the power of gratitude– being thankful for what you have. A sprinkle of thankfulness each day makes a big difference in the way you look at life.

Day 17 – Spoil Yourself

If you’re not into foot spas or facial treatments, then just spend some time doing what truly makes you happy! Why don’t you delight in your favorite chocolate cake and, for once, stop counting the calories? Or buy that rose gold blanket for your bedroom? Pamper yourself. You deserve it.

Day 18 – Redecorate your home

Redesign your living space. Switch around a few pieces of furniture. Small changes at home can freshen things up for you and your family.

Day 19 – Say “NO”

Perhaps it’s time your stick to your guns and stop being a people-pleaser. Do you always find it hard to say NO? If you only do things to please the people around you, then you’re never going to be happy.

If you’re too tired, tell your co-workers politely that you can’t go out on a Friday night. Gently tell that salesman that you don’t want and need a new credit card.

Practice saying “No” or “I’m sorry, I can’t” the next time someone asks you to do something, you don’t feel like doing.

Day 20 – Read a novel or listen to an audiobook

Immersing yourself into some fiction or a fascinating story is a great way to give your mind a break. You can also go for inspirational books like Chicken Soup for the Soul series and take some break from your daily routine.

Day 21 – Take a day off from social media

Even just for one day, log out from all your social accounts. As long as it’s not urgent or important, don’t answer back to emails. Try not to check Facebook, Instagram, or your email even just for a day. You’ll see how much it helps in reducing stress and negative thoughts.

Day 22 – Visit your parents during this 30 day self-care challenge.

Self-care is also about reconnecting with the people closest to you. If you can get some hours of free time today, why don’t you go for a long drive and visit your mom and dad? They’ll surely love it once you walk into their doorstep. Oh, you can make a classic dessert or a fresh salad for them before leaving the house!

Day 23 – Walk, Dance, or Run

Dance like crazy when no one is watching. Sing in the shower as if you’re a pro. Run around the sports complex, or take a walk in the park with your pet.

Just pause from modern living and unwind!

Day 24 – Stop envying your friends

Do you secretly feel jealous when you saw your neighbor’s new car? Do you feel a tinge of envy upon witnessing your friend’s promotion at work?

Stop! That is not self-care, even if you do so 30, 40 0r 50 days. STOP!

Instead of letting envy or jealousy consume you, why don’t you think of all the good things you have– a loving spouse, healthy kids, a happy home, food on the table… Train your mind to look at the positive side of your life. It may not be picture-perfect, but it is filled with little blessings every day.

Day 25 – Try DIY Skincare products

Do you have some essential oils in your kitchen? Why don’t you check the internet for some homemade skincare products that suit your skin condition, such as a honey-banana facial mask.

Nourish your skin with organic products and rejuvenate. Do this at least once or twice a week if it makes you feel better.

Day 26 – Plan this week’s meals

Creating a meal plan makes things easier for you and your family. It saves you plenty of time, effort, and energy. You can get lots of ideas on how to plan meals from Pinterest.

DAY 27 – Join a Yoga class

Just like meditation, yoga creates a harmonious connection between your mind and body. Yoga also calms the mind, strengthens the muscles, and improves overall health.

Joining a yoga class also allows you to meet new people and friends.

Day 28 – Set goals

Be it a diet goal, a relationship goal, or a business goal — outlining the things you need to do and want to achieve sets you up for better days. Clear and specific goals give you a sense of purpose and serve as your motivation, especially when things get tough.

Day 29 – Harness the power of positive affirmation

Love yourself. Believe in what you can do. Reshape your mind slowly and allow thoughts of self-love to infiltrate your mind. Doing these things will improve the way you see yourself and other people as well.

Day 30 in the self-care challenge- Listen to an inspirational podcast

Listen to motivational speeches on Youtube. Get inspired and listen to positive-thinking speakers.

Remember, you are what you watch AND listen to. So, if you want to attract some inspiration and good vibes, then surrounding yourself with people (even online) can help. This will be a big improvment in your 30 day self-care challenge.
